Ancient Greek Science of Numbers

Created to support a video on the Golden Ratio, posted at http://www.sparetag.com/z97-golden-rule.html. The most important numbers for the Pythagoreans were the Five and the Ten. Five was the number of Love, uniting Two, the first even – female – number, and Three, the first odd greater than one – male – number. Five became later the symbol of humanity represented by the regular pentagon or pentagram, while Ten or Decagon symbolizes the universe, i.e.

Abundance of Elements

Playing around with some simple, less embellished infographics before prioritizing more illustrative projects. This is just a basic display of the abundance of elements in the known universe, the Earth, the Earth’s crust, the ocean, the atmosphere, and the human body. The graphic includes a more or less basic percentage breakdown image, as well as the occurrence on the periodic table (shaded logarithmically so as not to miss out on the elements with smaller proportions).

Melting and Boiling Points of the Elements

This chart is simply showing the melting and boiling points of the chemical elements at one standard atmosphere, plotted against the valence electron blocks. There are a few elements that have more than one melting point—sulfur, phosphorus, and selenium—for differing allotropes, and naturally as the atomic number gets higher, there’s a bit more estimation in the numbers and a few gaps—those ephemeral transuranic synthetics. I added a little texturing because, well, it’s me, signifying the solid, liquid, and gaseous states.
