Thanks and Spanks for Family Planning Donors

manks!&SPER Giving SPANKS TO FAMILY PLANNING DONORS A donor's fair share is their reasonable portion of funding needed for family planning based on their economic power. The donor share of funding needed is one-third of the total. Data for this analysis is based on three-year averages of gross domestic product and funding for sexual and reproductive health from 2008-2010, the most recent data available. Donors' fair shares are calculated based on their percent contribution to all donor countries gross domestic product, multiplied by the donor share of funding needed for international sexual and reproductive health. Click here for more details on our methodology. The traditional donor countries noted above play an essential role supplementing domestic funding for reproductive health in low-income countries. But too many aren't pulling their weight. Collectively, these donors will need to dramatically increase funding to meet the London Summit on Family Planning goal of 120 million additional users of family planning by 2020.
