How to Play Ukulele in 10 Steps

HON UKULELE INIOSTEPS Purchase a good quality ukulele to learn on. You may want to get some pointers from your ukulele teacher before taking the plunge to purchase an instrument. 1 Spend some time thinking about the types of songs that you want to learn - pick out three or four that 2 have three chords each to start with. A good way to start playing an instrument is to pick out a couple of bands that you really like and find chord charts for a few of their songs that you really enjoy. Get good a good teacher. Youtube videos are great, online resources are awesome, but nothing beats having a real teacher who can examine what you are doing, help you develop good habits, and give you the advice you need when you get stuck. 3 Get some good songbooks. Make sure you get songbooks with the chords written above the sheet music. It is not important at this point that you know how to read the music, or even if the songbooks have ukulele tab. All you need at this point is songs you like, lyrics, and the chords. 4 5 Get the proper tools like a chromatic tuner, a polishing cloth, a gig bag, and maybe even a capo. When you start learning to play a stringed instrument, these items can be useful and will make you PositiveGrid TUNER feel like a real musician! Get a graph notebook, some pencils, and some colored pencils or markers. You will want to take notes, jot down helpful things and write down new chords. Set aside a time each and every day to practice. Schedule that time in your calendar and stick to it. This is important. If you make time for playing the ukulele, it shows that you care about learning, and daily practice will help you improve quickly. 7 While you're setting aside a special time to practice, you should also set aside a place to practice. If you have a good practice place with good lighting, a music stand, and a comfortable seat, you will enjoy playing your instrument. 8. Buy a couple extra ukuleles. If you keep a ukulele next to your easy chair, in your car, at your work, etc. you will be more prone to practicing. Ukuleles are inexpensive enough to have a few. Put them where they are accessible. Finally, don't give up! Learning any instrument is not something you are going to master overnight. Don't let yourself get discouraged. If you keep at it you will become an excellent ukulele player. 10 Find your ukulele teacher at te takelessons TakeLessons.com and start your musical journey today!
