A lot of people that move to Sweden expect that they are able to drive on a foreign license. This is the case for the first year, but once the person has become a resident, they are required to obtain... a Swedish drivers license. Its not possible to just exchange a license (unless they are from the UK or the EEA). The Swedish license is not as simple as going to a road authority and getting a photo. It requires a new education in driving, one of which costs a minimum of over $500 US. We analyzed the statistics of everyone that has sought a new license in Sweden. We found that only 57% of people will pass their test on the first go, with the passing rate for people learning privately being much lower at 40%. We also found that the results vary depending on if you are a male or a female.
