Nearly 1/2 of ALL GIRLS in developing countries are MOTHERS by their 18TH BIRTHDAY. Early pregnancy & MALNUTRITION makes PREGNANCY &CHILDBIRTH R.I.P the #1 killer of girls age 15-19. 5 MILLION young people in developing SEX RATIO IN INDIA 1,000 BOYS 1981 952 1991 normal 945 2001 927 64% countries GIRLS LIVING WITH HIV Now 914 GIRLS In India, 47% Since 1981, the NORMAL SEX RATIO has steadily fallen for children aged O-6. of adolescent GIRLS are underweight What to Do The best way to FIGHT MALNUTRITION is to EDUCATE GIRLS. An educated woman tends to have fewer, healthier children - breaking the cycle. A child born to a mother who can read is 50% more likely to survive past age 5. In 2011 THE HUNGER PROJECT 64,271 people joined together for public events honoring National Girl Child Day - an awareness- raising day founded by THP-Bangladesh in the year 200O. Nearly 1,300 YOUNG GIRLS in Africa attended NURSERY SCHOOLS WITH MEAL PROGRAMS.
