In 2008, the FDA released a Public Health Safety Notification warning people about the complications associated with transvaginal meshs. However, they said complications were rare. In 2011, the FDA updated its 2008 Public Health FDA Safety Notification stating that the risks linked with transvaginal mesh implants were not "rare". These FDA complication warnings came too late and many women had suffered severely.
