The latest official statistics on energy production and consumption showed the UK's increasing reliance on imported oil and coal. 2011 - 2012 2ND QUARTER - 2012 The total UK energy production in the second quarter of 2013 was 9.5% lower than over the same period last year. This fall in production led to a rise in net import dependency of total primary energy to 51%, Imports accounted for 45.1% of the UK's primary oil use. From this survey it was found that: One in four households are worried about how the UK will generate enough energy in just FIVE years' time More than half (52 per cent) said they would reduce their energy use if it meant guaranteeing the UK had enough Other 'big picture' energy issues, however, are less likely to prompt people to want to save energy. Only around one in five looked at ways to reduce their energy use after hearing or reading about: energy to meet its needs in the future, while around the same amount had looked at ways to reduce their energy use after hearing or reading about rising energy bills. FRACKING 18% WIND FARMS 20% However, there still plenty of opportunities for UK households to make their homes more energy efficient. UK housing stock figures show around half of homes -13.5 MILLION HOMES ยท still don't have any form of wall insulation.
