DRUG ADDICTION Admitting is the first step. Should I tell them? What should I do? What's the first step? Who can help me? FRIENDS AND FAMILY Telling your parents is the first step. Be 100% honest and up front with them about exactly what's been happening, and express your desire to get the help you need. If you're a parent and feel it's time to tell your children about your addiction problem, make sure the explanation is age-friendly. You'd be surprised at how loving and supportive they'll be once you're honest with them. Friends that are close to you and trustworthy will be hugely supportive. Talk openly with them and they'll support your efforts to recover. Equally, create distance between those who may encourage your addiction. PLAN OF ACTION Support Options: Individual Group Family Be aware of the many support options available for you. Having a plan of action and others there to help you provides a huge sense of relief for the individual going through rehabilitation. THE CONSEGQUENCES Refusing to open up or seek professional help for your addiction leads to: Poor Health Financial Problems Legal Problems TREATMENT Connect with a treatment centre that is right for you and you will lead to recovery.
