Sleep is required to function and while scientists do not know everything about sleep they do know some. Different amounts of sleep are needed depending on your age; babies need sixteen hours, kids 3-18 need ten, adults 19-55 need eight, and adults over 65 need six. Sleep is the time when your brain recharges, your cells repair, and your body releases important hormones.
