YOUTUBE Sensations THEN & NOW In celebration of Psy taking the crown for producing the first video to hit and surpass one billion views online, we thought it seemed fitting to show (in no particular order) other YouTube sensations, what got them famous, and where they are today. Grab some dark sunglasses, jump on your imaginary horse, and celebrate the amazing world of new media. After being posted to YouTube in 2010, the video received millions of views, landed him on various talk shows, and is now making music. THEN ........... He is currently releasing music that can be downloaded from iTunes. NOW The year the video went viral, the Antoine Dodson Halloween costume consisting of a wig, red bandana, piece of folded paper, and tank top with "hide yo' kids" printed on the chest was the most popular outfit to wear for trick or treat or Halloween parties. 48 MILLION VIEWS Charlie Bit My Finger! 506 MIL Now VIEWS The duo are back in front of the camera shooting commercials for Ragu pasta sauce and hopefully, Charlie has since stopped biting people's fingers. Then Combine a teething infant and British toddler and you get the infamous "Charlie Bit My Finger" video that went viral in 2007. With 500 million views, this video landed itself a place on the most viewed chart of YouTube. CHOCOLATE RAIN 88 MIL Now VIEWS ........ His Internet fame propelled his music career and is now an Award-Winning singer and songwriter. Videos on his YouTube channel have more than 159 million views overall. Purchase a Tay Zonday shirt and start downloading his music from iTunes. Then video landed him 88 million views. Posted on April 2007, Tay Zonday's "Chocolate REBECCA BLACK 46 MIL VIEWS Then Rebecca Black's song "Friday" was released on Feb. 10, 2011. This low budget auto tuned music video was uploaded to YouTube where it received millions of views and an obnoxious amount of parodies. The song landed her a seat on Jay Leno's couch and was talked about by Nick and Joe Jonas, Justin Beiber, and Lady Gaga. Now She continues to produce music and held her first concert at the Anaheim House of Blues in December 2012. It wasn't all fun, fun, fun, fun for Rebecca Black because harassing bullies forced her to leave school in 2011. Then After undergoing surgery to remove a tooth, David's father recorded David's innocent and confused 116 MIL VIEWS thoughts. The video hit YouTube on January 31, 2009 and within a week it received three million views. s This Ral Lifelo Now Merchandise, a blog, and parodies have evolved since the video went viral. JUDSON LAIPPLY His "Evolution of Dance" video landed interviews with Ellen Degeneres, Inside Edition, The Today Show, and other media outlets. NOW Inspirational Comedian Judson Laipply posted what became the world's most watched video on the Internet THEN on April 2006. The video currently has over 200 million views with twelve songs and dance moves. 209 MILLION VIEWS 8 Keenan Cahill 55 MIL Now. VIEWS He is now a known recording artist and landed a well-deserved spot in pop culture Young Keenan Cahill living with a rare genetic disorder posted a video of himself lip-syncing to a cover of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" in August of 2010. The viral video currently has 55 million views, which got the attention of various musical artists. Then 9. Fred Figglehorn 58 MIL VIEWS Now With merchandise, a TV show, and DVD's, Fred Figglehorn is known by many all thanks to his online claim to fame, strange videos, and obnoxious sounding voice. He is currently auditioning for TV and movie roles. He continues to create short videos in his free time. Then Lucas Cruikshank's alter ego Fred Figglehorn got his start on June 19, 2008 with the video "Fred Goes Swimming." The video currently has over 58 million views and has since influenced his TV show named simply, Fred: The Show. 10 GLOZELL 20 MIL VIEWS THEN Known as the Comedy Queen of the Internet, GloZell became famous with her comedic videos about everything from music reviews and parodies to the cinnamon and hot pepper challenges. She currently has over 1,400 videos, which received 221 million views total NOW ...... Her official website and social media sites help her followers stay connected and up to date on this Kool-Aid hair dying comedian. 11 Then Back in 2003 Matt was on vacation in Hanoi when his friend posted video of him dancing in the streets on their vacation blog. Unbeknownst to Matt someone posted the video on YouTube and the video went viral. It became so popular that Matt was asked to recreate the magic - which he did in 4 videos (2005, 2006, 2008 and 2012). His 2008 video has over 45 million views. 45 MIL VIEWS Now ................ Matt set up a website where you can watch all his videos -including outtakes - buy merchandise, send him an email and even sign up to dance with him if he is ever in your area. Despite all his travel and dancing Mat still found time to marry his girlfriend and have a son. Where the Hell is Matt? 12 Jenna Marbles 48 MIL Now.. VIEWS Since then, she continues to upload videos every week and has a growing number of fans and subscribers. Don't let the blonde hair and funny voices fool you, this girl has made a name for herself academically by receiving her masters from Boston University. Then With her funny impressions, how to's, and other random videos, Jenna Mourey has made a name for herself via YouTube. With 50 million views, her "How To Trick People Into Thinking You're Good Looking" video that was posted on July 9, 2010 went viral. 13 MISS TEEN SOUTH CAROLINA THEN..... When asked at the Miss Teen USA Pageant why one fifth of Americans cannot locate the United State on a world map, South Carolina contestant Lauren Upton gave an unstructured answer that made no cognitive sense. The video currently has 57 million views and has gained popularity by the shows Tosh.O, 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, and Rob Dyrdek's Ridiculousness. It received the most memorable quote of 2007 as well as the stupidest statement of the year award. NOW Believe it or not she landed fourth in the pageant and in 2010 went to compete on The Amazing Race. She currently lives in North Hollywood and is modeling with Donald Trump's modeling agency. 57 MIL VIEWS Talking Twin Babies (14) 77 MIL VIEWS Now The video currently has 77 million views and counting. It's must be a twin thing! Then Nothing's cuter than watching children communicate using their own language. Uploaded on February 14, 2011, the "Talking Twin Babies Part 2" caught the attention of everyone including Good Morning America, ABC Nightly News, Ellen Degeneres, and Children's Hospital Blog. 15 Robert Wilkinson 9 MIL Now. VIEWS Unfortunately, this video did nothing but backfire in the real world. Robert lost his job at a recycling plant and is faced with both a negative reputation and DUI since the video hit YouTube. Then With nine million views, drunk Robert Wilkinson belted out the lyrics to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody." The video of him in the back of the police cruiser was uploaded on March 28, 2012. I NEED MY SPACE NASA 16 STAR WARS KID THEN Ghyslain Raza got his fame from recording himself whipping around a golf ball retriever as if it was a light saber. The video was uploaded January 15, 2006 by classmates, which unfortunately aided in Raza's depression and ridicule. NOW However, Raza can have the last laugh now because he is currently attending law school and is a president of a nonprofit organization. The video currently has over 26 million views. 27 MIL 17 VIEWS DANIEL "HOMELESS“ MUSTARD Then ....... 10 MIL VIEWS Once living on the streets of New York, Daniel Mustard received online attention after performing "Hit Me Baby One More Time," and "Creep" on The Opie & Anthony Show. The performance reached eight million views after it's debut on YouTube in 2009. Now He has since released five songs in 2010 and has performed live and via Skype. All homeless people should take advice from this guy! A S sigo 18 KEYBOARD CAT 29 MIL Now. VIEWS Unfortunately, Fatso passed away in 1987; thankfully, though, Schmidt saved the video. Charlie keeps the spirit of Fatso alive with merchandise, artwork, and through social media sites. Then Blue t-shirt wearing orange tabby cat named Fatso was made famous when his owner, Charlie Schmidt, posted a video to YouTube of the cat jamming out on the keyboard. The video was uploaded in June of 2007 is ranked number 2 on the top 50 Greatest Viral Videos, which currently has over 29 million views. T-shirts, parodies, and Internet memes helped Charlie Schmidt's cat become a recognized figure in pop culture. (19 Maddie Kelly Then ..... Maddie was just 6 when her dad filmed her saying funny things about the pictures in an old book she found. A few months later her dad put the link to the video on his Facebook page and it exploded. Maddie was all over the internet and TV in no time. 17 MILLION VIEWS She had over 3 million views in less than a week - and was even approached to collaborate on an off-off Broadway play. Now KITTENS Maddie is nowa happy 5th grader in Minnesota. She is always trying to come up with a way to reclaim her 5 minutes of fame. Last summer the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis did an internet cat video festival and Maddie's video got a lifetime achievement award. It was awesome. 20 The Real Meaning of MPH THEN Husband Travis Chambers asked his wife how long it would take to travel 80 miles if you're traveling at the rate of 80 miles per hour. Travis records his wife explaining how to figure out the answer and after posting it to YouTube on December 16, 2012, it had over 3.4 million views 8 MIL NOW••....
