YOUR WORKPLACE BENEFITS ROAD MAP INTRODUCTION Major life changes like getting married, having kids and buying a house, usually require a change in the benefits you need. START LEARNING So check out this information and then check in with your employer to see what you have access to at work to make sure you're making the best possible coverage decisions. 1 65% GET MARRIED DISABILITY According to the Council for Disability Awareness, 65% of working Americans say they could not cover normal living expenses, even for a year, if their employment income was lost; 38% could not pay their bills for more than three months. AUTO INSURANCE Make sure you and your spouse are covered in the event that your income is compromised. In 2012, the average auto liability claim was $3,073 and the average collision claim was $2,950.
