Gender split Skills 18.1% 81.9% Male v Be able to work with clients who are living with a disability within the community Female v Develop programs to help clients develop their skills and abilities Help clients with personal care, health and personal hygiene This is a female dominated industry with 81.9% of those working in Disability being women and only 18.1% male. v Encourage clients to join clubs, take part in activities and make relationships with others Type of roles NUMBER OF PEOPLE EMPLOYED • Accommodation Support Worker There are currently around 127 000 people employed in Disability in Australia. • Care Assistant 127,000 • Community Access Coordinator Employment reports that there will be an increase to 167 900 people within the profession by 2018.
