TOP TIP: Choosing a winter policy based on just price alone could leave you without adequate cover (and out of pocket!) so make sure you check what's on offer before you buy! Wintersports travel insurance tips. If you are partaking in sports and activities, ensure you have the correct cover before you take part in them! Contact your insurer and they will add the activities to your policy for you. Make sure you declare any medical conditions to your insurer so that they are aware of your medical history. Choose a specialist wintersports policy that provides adequate cover for your trip. Don't skimp out on cover just because of the price as it could cost you later on. Choose a policy that covers important items such as own and hire equipment, ski packs and lift passes. Look for a policy which has no excess, which means that you will have nothing to pay if you need to make a claim. Often these are slightly more expensive, but could potentially save you a lot of money in the long run. Check that your insurer has a 24 hour emergency medical team and keep important contact numbers with you at all times.
