Why and How we redėsigned Celoxis A detailed look at the reasons behind redesign of Celoxis and approach adopted for the same Before Celoxis 7.0 - Function first When we started developing Celoxis a decade ago, our focus was to develop a tool that addressed all the project management needs in an organization. We put countless hours into understanding project management principles, workflows, organization culture and above all, customer pain-points. We wanted Celoxis to be a functional superhero – and that it has turned out to be! With many subsequent releases, Celoxis has solidified its reputation of having the ability and features to manage any kind project under the sun. Need for Celoxis 7.0 Emotional Our customers wanted Celoxis to be more progressive with the user experience. There was an evident need for our software to look as good as it worked. Logical In our internal debates on improving user experience, we started realising that when you see a screen, you should be able to see more of your data than our interface. 2 Statistical We analyzed historical usage data and saw strong patterns where improvements were needed. T FONT Why we chose Open Sans: • It is just right for our redesign philosophy; It's elegant and sophisticated, yet modern. It's beautifully legible, offers an excellent reading experience, and has a superior typographic range that includes accents, non-Latin characters, and more. • It is widely supported and optimized for print, web, and mobile interfaces • Celoxis looks a whole lot better in IE9. VECTOR ICONS • Scale: They scale much better than icon images. Load faster too. • Flexible editing: You can easily change colours, add shadows or create transparent knockouts without having to spend hours on Photoshop. They can practically do anything images can such as change opacity or orientation. • Good support from most browsers • Can be designed on the fly • Smaller file sizes owing to fewer characters compared to a full typeface SPEED • 30% faster javascript improvement than over our previous release 6.5. • Significant HTML improvements to load data even faster. • Move to vector icons also contributed to faster load times. Today, Celoxis 7.0 has turned out to be a well planned exercise in giving a feature rich and functionally strong project management software, a much needed upgrade; a complete package with Brain, Brawn & Beauty!
