What is Your workout plan for this summer? It has been observed that January is always the busiest time of the year for gyms. After the holiday season of eating, drinking and being merry, gyms see a 25% increase in member sign-ups in January than at any other time of the year. But in 2012, we saw a slight change in this scenario. According to Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, more Americans exercised frequently in the summer of 2012 (three or more days a week) than they did in previous years. With summer right around the corner, it will soon be time to shed those clothes and put on your swimsuits and hit the beach. However, to fit perfectly in your swimsuit, a regular workout routine is your best solution. If you have not planned your summer workout routine yet, here is your ultimate exercise plan, and it all starts with a commitment to yourself. I have break down a week to give you an idea of how it works. MONDAY Start with brisk walking or jogging to get warmed up. Follow the list and do each exercise one time. Leg lifts Pull-ups Starbursts Speed skaters Dips Sit ups or crunches Burpees Alternate lunges Remember to do ten jumping jacks between each exercise. It is keep it simple on Tuesday. Start with a 10 minute warm up. Then add in 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill, some side shuffles and a few burpees. Followed by a 5 minute cool down and 10 to 15 minutes of stretching. TUESDAY WEDNESDAY Time for your dumbbells workout. Follow the list and do each exercise one time. Dumbbell squat Dumbbell deadlifts Dumbbells flies Dumbbell bent over rows Flutter kicks Dumbbell hammer curls Sit-up/ crunches Dumbbell alternate lunges Overhead triceps extension Finish with stretching and a cool down. THURSDAY It is time to pick up the pace. Jog a few laps to warm up. Then begin your extensive cardio exercises, such as run on the treadmill, jump rope, jumping jacks and end it with some tough exercises for your abs. You can try alternate heel touches, barbell ab roll outs, crunches, barbell side bends, planking or sit-ups. FRIDAY Let's end the week with a bang. It is time to take all the exercises from Monday to Wednesday and put them together on one list. Do as many reps as you can. Do one exercise and then ten jumping jacks. Do another exercise and follow it with five burpees. Keep repeating this in between each exercise.
