TYPES OF SEXUAL ABUSE DEFINITION There are four categories of Sexual Abuse. 1 COMPLETE SEXUAL ACT: Sexual Intercourse INCOMPLETE SEXUAL ACT: Attempted but Unsuccessful Sexual Intercourse ABUSIVE SEXUAL CONTACT: Touching or Hurting Sexual or Private Areas SEXUAL ABUSE WITHOUT CONTACT: Intentional & Unwanted Exposure to Obnoxious Sights; Verbal Sexual Assaults; etc. EMOTIONAL SIGNS OF SEXUAL ABUSE Victims of Sexual Abuse are: more likely to experience Depression & Anxiety. TIMES 6. more likely to show signs of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). TIMES 4 more likely to consider committing TIMES Suicide. 26 more likely to Abuse Drugs & Substances. TIMES more likely to become 13 Alcohol-dependent. ACUTE: 2. ADJUSTMENT: 3. INTEGRATION: Shock, Disbelief, Guilt, Anger, & Helplessness. Victim accepts the reality; learns to face public; makes efforts to avoid recurrence; & experiences, e.g. Pregnancy, takes practical steps to come out of trauma. A sudden incident reminds victim of the traumatic Encounter with the Abuser; a Similar Face like the Abuser seen somewhere, etc. TREATING PTSD OF SEXUAL ABUSE VICTIMS PTSD is treatable through a number of techniques, including: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT): Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Exposure Therapy: Cognitive and Behavioral therapies are combined for patients to recognize negative thoughts and resultant harmful actions. It combines Exposure Therapy with a sequence of scientifically guided eye movements to help victims process Sexual Abuse memories. Another form of Behavioral Therapy for victims to deal with the sexual abuse memories.
