Telecentres: Who they are and what they do

TELECENTRES: WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY DO Telecentre Europe is a non-formal training network and European non-for- profit organisation (NGO) grouping 54 organisations in 32 countries.* These organisations are publicly funded telecentres and their networks, ICT learning centres, adult education centres and libraries where everyone can access the Internet, learn digital skills, discover digital opportunities and keep up-to-date with technology. Telecentre Europe members are: 3 networks individual organisations 36% < 64% 33 Out of every 5 networks, 4 run municipal centres, 3 are NGO-run and 2 form networks of public libraries 64 NGOS (64%) Public sector (33%) |Private (3%) They serve almost 2 million users each year! peer NGO/volunteer organizations ("non-profit B2B"), 48% all categories of users ("generalistic") 38% 26% small entrepreneurs 21% public servants 62% raise awareness in their communities 71% active in advocating for digital inclusion toward their local or national government 60% participate in local or regional consultative bodies 43% interact with public authorities to fund their own activities Top 3 user groups are: 74% Adults (in general) 69% Youngsters 67% Seniors 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 Adults Youngsters Seniors IUnemployed Low skilled Women NEETS Disabled I Migrants Ethnic minorities Children 250,000 organisations work with elnclusion in EU27** From cybercafés, private training organisations, trade unions...
