World Web Browser Market Share

Tech blogs. They don’t agree on much. Apple Fanboys, Android Fanboys, Playstation Fanboys, Xbox Fanboys… the web is awash with people flaming each other about their choice of technology. If there’s one thing they do agree on however it’s that the time of Internet Explorer is over. Hail the King. Hail Google Chrome. In many parts of the world however, ol’ IE is very much alive and kicking and some of the reasons why are nearly as surprising. Using the internet is no longer a luxury for most people, it is an essential part of life. The answers to most of our day to day questions can be found in a couple of clicks, but how do we choose to view this? For years, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has been the most popular choice. It was not until recently that it was overthrown as the leader of the browser pack. Recent data suggests that Google’s own browser ‘Chrome’ has climbed above Explorer and is now used by 40% of internet users worldwide. But how has this changed over the years and is it likely to change again?
