Debt and credit ratings of the G20 economies Each solid circle represents a G20 economy. The bigger the circle, the bigger the economy. The corresponding dotted circle shows the size of the nation's debt relative to GDP. A dotted circle falling outside a solid circle indicates debt exceeding 100% of GDP. Bright blue circles at the top highlight AAA credit ratings, while flame-out red circles at the bottom are economies falling below speculative grade. The lower the credit rating, the greater a country's cost to borrow money and service its debt-shown here by the relative size of the anchors weighing down these economies.
