By Nick DeSantis Ever since the winter season of 1977-1978, the upstate New York cities Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester, Binghamton and Albany have engaged in a friendly competition called The Golden Snowball. The city that accumulates the most snowfall in a single season snags the coveted trophy, as well as bragging rights until winter rolls around once again.
