SANTA PAWS IS COMING To TOWN HOW MUCH PET OBSESSED BRITAIN SPENDS ON ITS FURRY FRIENDS. At least 75% of pet-owners will buy gifts for their pets this season. One in ten pet-owners will spend over £50 on gifting their pampered pets - the equivalent of 72 jumbo dog biscuits. 66% of pet-owners will spend the same am more, on their pet than they would on a partner. Half of pet-owners will buy their family pet at least two presents this Christmas, spending an average of £26.53 in the process. On average, UK consumers spend £25m on snacks and treats for cats and dogs in grocery outlets throughout December. Pet-owners in London are least likely to buy a gift for their pet, with just 46% planning to buy their pet a Christmas present. Yorkshire and Humberside pet owners are most likely to buy a gift for their pet, with 55% of them saying they would normally buy their pet a present at Christmas. Pets in the South are most likely to recieve toys for Christmas. Pets in the North are most likely to recieve food treats such as bones and choc drops for Christmas.
