By 2015 all new NPs will need to be trained at the doctorate level as a Doctor of Nursing Practice. 104 new DNP programs are in the process of being developed NEED TO DOUBLE CURRENT NUMBER OF NPS BY 2020 Estimated shortage of 140,000 primary care doctors by 2025".
