THE PERSONALITIES OF THE 50 STATES Do different U.S. states have different personalities? Is there any truth to the stereotypes of the hospitable Southerner, the plain-spoken Midwesterner, the flighty Californian? We surveyed 12,703 U.S. residents in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to find out. Do states really have their own, distinct personalities?
