Dumbo Moving & Storage database contains statistics for the past 3 months about moving tendencies in New York. Our main goal was to determine where New Yorkers are moving from, which areas of the NYC ...
they are moving to and where they go in case of leaving the state.
When it comes to leaving and moving to, Boerum Hill is the most popular area. Then follows Murray Hill on both lists. The third most popular area on our ''leaving list'' is Yorkville, then follow Upper West Side and Morning Side Heights.
The third area on our ''moving to list'' is Morning Side Heights. The next areas on the list are: Hell’s Kitchen and Chelsea.
Since New Yorkers are most interested in Murray Hill, Boerum Hill, and Morning Site Heights, no wonder the rent costs are getting high.
Lately Brooklyn has become very tempting for young people due to a growing of art scene and so Yorkville and the Upper West became less popular. Hell’s Kitchen and Chelsea are known as a major real estate thanks to the close position of the midtown and their support to the LGBT members.
There's also a certain number of people moving from New York, apart from 83% of those who are moving within the borders of NYC.
New Jersey is the most wanted long destination, followed by Florida, which is retiree's choice, then Connecticut, which is known for it's state economy.
The forth and fifth place belong to Georgia and Massachusetts, thanks to a business hub and education centers respectively.
