Networking at Dreamforce: Daytime Vs. Nighttime

NETWORKING AT n force DAYTIME VS. NIGHTTIME ..... ................ ........... ... Networking during the day looks different than at night, but both are necessary. Here is proper protocol for both. LOCATION LOCATION Your location matters. Go where you can meet people relevant to your industry. Hang in the DevZone if you're a developer; attend the Sales Cloud Product Keynote if you're in sales. If you like the nightlife, and love to boogie, Dreamforce is the mecca of networking parties. RSVP early for the parties related to your industry. DRESS BUSINESS DRESS Though the fashion police don't frequent business events, your appearance still speaks volumes about your credibility and trustworthiness. Dress accordingly. Keep it classy; it's a networking party not a Night at the Roxbury. If you wouldn'f visit your mother wearing it, don't punish your industry peers with distracting or distasteful outfits. SPEECH SPEECH Your focus during the day should be on matters of business alone. Build partnerships during the day inviting others business network. Stick to topics that can keep the conversation rolling such as music, movies, television shows, food, marketing automation (kidding, but not really) and favorite parts of Dreamforce 12. your DRINK DRINK Make sure that drink in your hand has caffeine, because you'll need it to stay alert. Pick up your coffee at the Sfarbucks on Market or 4th. In between hopping from the Gala to the Appirio party, or from the Welcome Reception to the Marketing Masterpieces party, make sure to stop and grab a bottle of water to stay hydrated. HELLO MY NAME IS PEOPLE Use the daytime to forge new relationships and partnerships. Go after the movers and shakers in your industry that you don't already know. PEOPLE As you attend the evening parties, introduce yourself to as many folks as possible. Bring plenty of business cards as you will likely be going through fhem faster than you can close a sale. PARTY PUNCTUALITY PUNCTUALITY Arrive early to the sessions, parties and keynotes. You don't want to be watching an ant-sized Benioff or be spending your time in lines. Also, sessions fill up so punctuality matters, so don't be left in the hallway. With 70K people in town, parties are going to get filled fast. Make sure to arrive early for a chance to get in the door. Created by COLUMN FIVE Marketo
