The Most Influential Women ,Business Sheryl Sandberg CO0 Sheryl Sandberg's impressive CV boasts stints with the United States Secretary of the Treasury under President Bill Clinton and at Google. In 2008, she became the first woman to serve on Facebook's board. Sandberg's hit book 'Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead' encourages women to believe in themselves and aims to show that it is possible to have it all. Ursula Burns xerox Chairperson & CEO Ursula Burns joined the ranks at Xerox as a summer intern in 1980, before gaining a permanent position a year later and steadily rising to become the first African-American woman CEO of a Fortune 500 company in 2009. Burns also heads up the White House's national program on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Michelle Mone MJM INTERIOA BUILD Co-founder & Former CEO Michelle Mone's first years in business were rocky after she was fired from her first job for lying on her CV. However, this set-back led to Mone creating her own business with her husband, resulting in the creation of the Ultimo brand of bras. The idea was prompted by Mone experiencing the discomfort of other cleavage enhancing bras. Sara Blakely SPANX Founder Not only did Sara Blakely come up with the idea of Spanx and fashion the first pair by cutting the legs off a pair of control-top tights, but she also taught herself to write the patent for it. The Spanx brand is now available in over 50 countries and in 2012 Blakely was named the world's youngest, self-made female billionaire by Forbes Magazine. HARPO Oprah Winfrey PRODUCTIONS Founder In 1986, the American talk show host and entrepreneur created her own production company and took over ownership and production of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show'. This move made Oprah the first African-American to own an entertainment production company and led to her becoming the wealthiest woman in show business in the 1990s. Melinda Gates BILLEMELINIM Co-founder Businesswoman and philanthropist Melinda Gates' career began at Microsoft where she was involved in the development of many of the company's multimedia products. Since leaving, Gates and her husband Bill have donated more than $30 billion to their charitable foundation which is the world's largest private foundation. Indra Nooyi Chairperson & CEO Indra Nooyi moved from India to the US to pursue a management degree at Yale, paying her way through college by working the graveyard shift as a receptionist. Nooyi's hard work paid off and in 1994 she joined PepsiCo. She went on to be appointed as president and CFO in 2001, and later became the company's 5th CEO. hp Meg Whitman CEO, Chairperson & President During her time as CEO of eBay, Whitman helped grow the company from 30 employees and $5 million in sales to more than 15,000 employees and $8 billion in revenue. In 2011, Whitman became the head of HP and oversaw the company's historic 2015 split into two companies - Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. Arianna Huffington THE HUFFINGTON POST Editor-in-chief Author, journalist and entrepreneur are just three of Arianna Huffington's titles. In 2005, she launched the eponymous Huffington Post, of which she is the co-founder, president and editor-in-chief. Since its launch, The Huffington Post has become one of the most-read online publications. GM Mary Barra Chairperson & CEO Ranked 1st on Fortune's "50 Most Powerful Women in Business" list in 2015, Mary Barra became CEO of GM a year earlier. This move made her the first female CEO in the auto industry. Prior to heading up the U.S's largest automobile manufacturer, Barra held several roles at the company.
