The global model for researching and developing medicines is based on profit, not need. ...only two new TB treatments have been 1.5 million people die of tuberculosis ...but over the last 50 years... every year... developed This means drugs which could treat diseases affecting mostly poor communities are simply not developed. We need tools to build a model which will encourage the development of medicines for diseases like TB: Tool 1: Push Push' for new research on treatments through providing grants to scientists Tool 2: Pull "Pull' scientists to a problem by rewarding them with prize funding Tool 3: Pool 'Pool' the results and data from this research to help scientist to develop new medicines If we prove that these tools work for developing treatments for tuberculosis (TB), we could test them for other killer diseases.
