Life as a Marketing Manager CMorning Commute As a marketing manager, you can never expect to have the same day twice. From research 9AM and planning, to executing tactics and attending meetings, there is always something new. There are 200 hours in a standard work week - how do you spend yours? Checking Email & Coffee Review Social Media At least 30 hours per week are spent working - writing, reviewing advertising, etc. 10AM On average, I drink 45 gallons of coffee a year - just at the office. That's a lot of caffeine! First Meeting of the Day 11AM Second Meeting I spend way too much time dodging vendors. To be expected when your job title is listed in a directory. 12PM Ad Review & Writing There is always a pizza party or some type of cookie or other dessert available after a meeting or event. In any given week I will receive 300 emails - perhaps only able to respond to half. 1PM Lunch & Read an Article Review Social Media At least 3 times a week I try to read an article 2PM or a few chapters in a book during lunch. Conference Call I've already had 2 chairs in 18 months. ЗРМ Thankfully I don't travel as much as I used to - now only 2-3 times per year. 2nd Coffee Break 4PM Ad Review & Writing On average I spend about 5-10 hours per week socializing with colleagues. 5PM One strange phenomenon is that most of my "fires" occur on Friday. Evening Commute All of my best ideas seem to come to me in my car, so I'll never give up my commute! © 2012 Kathy Dodd 6PM
