TREATMENT TEAM: How Many People Does it Take to Treat a Person with an Eating Disorder? 30 1 in 10 men and women with eating disorders receive treatment. NURSE DIETITIAN This is the first person patients meet as they start treatment, which includes a thorough exam and medical history. A nurse will provide ongoing support and monitoring of the patient's health and progression. Registered dietitians provide meal plans, supplements, education, support, and nurturing guidance as patients let go of their eating disorder behaviors and distorted thoughts regarding food and weight. PSYCHIATRIST THERAPIST Psychiatrists oversee the medication management needs of the patients and work closely with a team of therapists to provide the support and counseling a patient needs.
