CONCERN www.concern.net worldwide GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX REPORT 2013 The Global Hunger Index (GHI) is a tool designed to measure and track hunger globally, and by region and country.* How the GHI score is calculated A country's GHI score is calculated by averaging the percentage of: • the population that is undernourished • children younger than five who are underweight • children dying before the age of five This calculation produces a score on a 100-point scale – on which zero is the best score and 100 is the worst.
