Filipino Dining Etiquette: A Short Primer

ASIAN DINING ETIQUETTE PHILIPPINES It is acceptable to arrive 15 to 30 minutes later when invited for a large party. A fork and spoon are the typical eating utensils. NEVER refer to your host's wife as the "hostess." This has a different meaning in the Philippines. Random Trivia! When a spoon drops on the ground, it is an implication that a female guest is coming, if a fork falls down on the floor a male visitor can be expected. Refusing a packed leftover food is considered rude. Thankfully accept the favor and just give it away if you don't like it. DON'T leave the table until everyone is done with their meal. Burping is allowed. Filipinos are so darn hospitable, they’d offer you the very food they’re about to put in their mouths. Before sitting down to tuck in, make sure you’re familiar with Filipino dining etiquette.
