THE EWU Information Technology 2013 ANNUAL REPORT Faculty sent Students sent Spam blocked Design Build Run 912.3 k 99.6 k 1.1 mill In 2013, EWU began using Office 365 for email. During its first year of use, EWU students, faculty, and staff have sent more than a million emails, while more than two and a half million emails have been received. EWU has also blocked more than a million spam messages from cluttering up Eastern inboxes with all those space invaders. IT adopted a new service model to better assist the EWU community. The model is called "Design/Build/Run" and conceptualizes IT services into those three categories. In essence, IT has realigned itself to provide full service from the designing stage of finding a technology solution, to the building stage of installation, to the running stage making sure that the new technology is fully operational for all users. Coupled with the 2,330 online trainings provided by LyndaCampus, EWU students and employees received a diverse array of technology instruction. Eastern's data reporting tool, JasperSoft, showed an increased in the number of EWU students, staff and faculty are lever- aging the available online videos provid- ed to them. With more than 118,000 IT was able to answer more than 3,500 technology related questions in 2013, an increase of 14% in IT help requests over the previous year.
