During its first year of use, EWU students, faculty, and staff have sent more than a million emails, while more than two and a half million emails have been received. EWU has also blocked more than a million spam messages from cluttering up Eastern inboxes with all those space invaders. IT adopted a new service model to better assist the EWU community. The model is called "Design/Build/Run" and conceptualizes IT services into those three categories. In essence, IT has realigned itself to provide full service from the designing stage of finding a technology solution, to the building stage of installation, to the running stage making sure that the new technology is fully operational for all users.
