Environmental annihilation is unabated and there seems no respite in site – in spite of very pragmatic regulations under the Kyoto protocol (KP). For those of you who are unaware of KP, it’s an en... vironmental balancing mechanism where the developed nations fund eligible projects in the developing nations, which will offset the carbon and GHG (Green House Gas) emissions that have their origin in the richer nations. In a country like India, where due credit should be given to a lot of environmentally conscious NGOs, a concerted effort is still a distant reality. While our markets are flush with Nanos, SuperCool ACs, energy guzzling washing machines and slew of consumer products, there is hardly any recognition for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of these mass consumption items – which makes every household a warehouse for GHG and carbon emission.
