Summary: Visual.ly is expanding its team of freelance data journalists - particularly those with interest and experience in business, personal finance and technology - to work on a wide variety of data visualization/ infographic projects for our clients. Think of a project as researching a topic for an article, but writing an outline or script for an infographic instead. You will work directly with a client and a designer, who will be responsible for molding your script into the infographic or data visualization in question. Our data journalists work remotely and on their own time, and get paid on a per-project basis.

The Job

• Report/ research an assigned topic,
• Mold the research into a script/ infographic outline,
• Work closely with a designer and the infographic commissioner, using our proprietary online project management center,
• Represent Visual.ly in a professional manner, with special attention to detail and respect for deadlines.

You

• Have a degree in Journalism or another field that has trained you to do original research and proper sourcing and citation;
• Have 3+ years of experience working in a newsroom, or as a full-time freelance professional;
• Have a way with words, and by that we mean you can say more with less; 
• Have a knack for telling stories with data (and can explain what that is without using such buzz words);
• Will earn extra bonus points for having experience with or a passion for technology, business writing or personal finance.
