A Londoner's guide to eating out in London

-A- Londoner's guide to eating out in London We spoke to London food bloggers to find out where they would recommend eating out in the city SO... Where do London food bloggers enjoy eating? RIXTON LAGE SOHO Soho was the most popular area to eat out among our bloggers "For a first-time visitor to London, the best advice I can give to you is to get lost in Soho. Purely because many of the restaurants that are nestled there will not break a hole in your wallet, and the quality of food is consistently high. A lot of the best restaurants in London are hiding in Soho, and that's where all the locals go, so go explore." Amy at Yummei.blogspot.co.uk London restaurants Camden Islington map Hackney 13 Newham Tower Hamlets 4 Westminster City 10 11 8 12 Kensington & Chelsea Southwark Greenwich Hammeramith & Fulham Lambeth Lewisham Wandsworth Where to eat in Soho ARBUTUS "Arbutus in Soho is unpretentious, but in a trendy location with excellent service, great food and a well-priced wine list - always a go to." Callum at Edgeandspoon.com PRINCI "The best lunch destination would have to be Princi in Soho. This Milanese bakery serves up a selection of hot and cold foods such as beef lasagne and aubergine parmigiana. Or even better, if you want fresh pizzas just head to the left of Princi and you are whisked away to their pizzeria for fresh slices of filled focaccia and Neapolitan pizza. Best of all are the cakes and pastries. It is self-service, w. ideal for lunchtimes, either eat in or take away." is Amy at Yummei.blogspot.co.uk HONEST Сииск HAND PICKED TA CHEESE SPECIALS HONEST BURGERS "This is one of my favourite burger joints in London and, for me, it consistently delivers. As it serves delicious dishes for less than £10 in the Soho area, it's no surprise that when it gets busy the waiting list can reach up to two hours! Their amazing medium-rare patties and addictive rosemary salted chips are worth the wait though." Owen at Foodoverlondon.com ROTISSERIE restaurant CLOCKJACK ROTISSERIE RESTAIRANT CLOCKJACK OVEN "Clockjack Oven in Soho serves rotisserie-style chicken. It may be simple but the quality of the food is outstanding - succulent chicken sourced from France, good chips, well priced food and sauces to die for." Gary at londonfoodaholic.co.uk On average, the London food bloggers we asked spent £20 - £30 per person on food and drink when eating out. Where to go for a special-occasion meal THE SHIORI; BAYSWATER £65 - £105 PER PERSON, FOOD ONLY "I'd love to be able to dine in this Japanese restaurant regularly. Why does Japanese food have to be so perfect and so expensive? I know you pay for the quality, but money is an object to me, and sadly it doesn't buy much raw fish." Andrew at Arbaggs.wordpress.com VIAJANTE; EAST LONDON £120 - £175 PER PERSON, FOOD ONLY "The adventurous will love Viajante, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Bethnal Green. Viajante offers highly innovative modern cuisine in an informal setting and has a surprising menu format which is full of flavour." Adam at Edesiaishungry.blogspot.co.uk THE LEDBURY; NOTTING HILL £80 - £105 PER PERSON, "The Ledbury is often touted as 'the best restaurant in London', and deservedly so. The service in The Ledbury is as refined as the cooking. Although their a la carte may require a remortgage, £35 a head for a three-course lunch is extraordinary value for this quality of food." FOOD ONLY Owen at Foodoverlondon.com The best of the rest PERMIT ROOM DISHOOM; SHOREDITCH "In a super-cool location just off Brick Lane and with an excellent, interesting and very reasonably priced menu, Dishoom is unlike any other Indian restaurant in London." Gary at Scofflondon.com ST JOHN; SMITHFIELD “This is the original and the best place to eat and celebrate British cooking as a standalone art form." Andrew at Arbaggs.wordpress.com CORRIGAN'S MAYFAIR; MAYFAIR "At Corrigan's, Richard Corrigan has hit on a winning formula of serving stunning, locally sourced, seasonal dishes in a thoroughly absorbing ambience." Gëntlemen's l Luncheon Club Alandon odActrturont Gary at Gentlemensluncheonclub.com odrepe. CORNER ROOM; BETHNAL GREEN "Corner Room serves up modern, European style food with an innovative twist. Chef Nuno Mendes trained at El Bulli, and it shows. The restaurant is small, friendly and comfortable, and the prices are fantastic (especially at lunchtime). Sometimes it's nice not to eat centrally as well!" 10 Callum at Edgeandspoon.com Where to try something different SAF; KENSINGTON "Eating raw food is not that unusual for most vegans, but it can be a bit hard-core for carnivores. So, in that sense, the most unusual place I'd recommend would be Saf, which is a raw restaurant on top of Wholefoods Market in Kensington. Sadly, I have not found this branch to be as good as the original restaurant in Shoreditch which has since closed, but I have heard others have had enjoyable meals here." (11 Mitsu at Tohappyvegans.com Where to eat outside SUSHISAMBA; BISHOPGATE "The best places in London for picnics have to be the parks, especially Primrose Hill and Greenwich Park where you can find your secret hiding place and glance lazily over the city. But if you're looking for a more refined roof-top dining experience, head to SUSHISAMBA on Bishopgate, which is located on the 38th and 39th floor of the Heron Tower. SUSHISAMBA offers breath-taking views over the City and serves up a fusion of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian inspired cuisine." Amy at Yummei.blogspot.co.uk INSPIRAL LOUNGE; CAMDEN Grab a bite to eat from InSpiral Lounge, a vegan cafe in Camden and find a spot out by the canal to sit and eat - weather permitting obviously!
