Florida's Top Attractions

FLO RIDA'S ТОР TOP ATTRACTIONS CASTILLO 10 DE SAN MARCOS Located in the city of St. Augustine, the Castillo site is the oldest masonry fort in the US. Given the fine state of the Castillo it's Difficult to believe that the fortress was built in the late 1600's. St. Augustine itself is a small jewel of a city known as the oldest European settlement in the United States, full of romantic ambience and old world charm. A definite must visit on your trip to Florida. SEAWORLD ORLANDO A fantastic blend of marine animals and thrill rides, SeaWorld is home to both Shamu the killer whale and Kraken, the floorless roller-coaster. Away from the rides, its beautifully landscaped grounds include a 17 acre lagoon, flamingo and pelican ponds and a lush tropical rainforest. SeaWorld also offers the chance to dive with sharks, as well as feeding stingrays, sea lions and other critters. On top of all that, it boasts some phenomenal shows. UNIVERSAL ORLANDO Universal Orlando Resort is the biggest challenger to the Walt Disney Resort, as the largest of the Universal Studios Theme Parks. The resort consists of two separate theme parks: the original Universal Studios Florida and the second theme park, Islands of Adventure. Other attractions at the resort include a nightclub and restaurant complex called CityWalk, and three resort hotels. If you're looking for an alternative to Disney, this should be top of the list. UNIVERSAL 7 FORT LAUDERDALE Located on the Atlantic coast, Fort Lauderdale is known as the "Venice of America', due to its expansive and intricate canal system. The city is most famous for its beaches and boats, and although it was once a major spring break destination, it's now a stylish and sophisticated city. Central along the beach strip is Fort Lauderdale Beach; famous for its beautiful sandy beach, crisp promenade and collection of shops and restaurants. KENNEDY O SPACE CENTER Kennedy Space Center has been the launch site for every US human space flight since 1968 and currently acts as a launch site for unmanned rockets. It's also one of Florida's tourist attractions and the Visitor Complex offers museums, movies, a rocket garden and bus tours of important shuttle preparation and launch facilities. You can even see a rocket launch, although you'll be at least four miles away for safety reasons. 5 WEST KEY Key West is the southernmost city in the continental US and is closer to Havana than Miami. The city welcomes 1 million SOUTHERNMOS POINT tourists every year, although it has retained some of its sense of individualism and isolation; somewhat detached from the rest of Florida. Tourist attractions include Ernest Hemingway's former home, the southernmost point, the hugely popular lighthouse and a range of drinking establishments. A must visit for a trip to Florida. 4 EVERGLADES To some it might appear as a big swamp, but it's actually a vast, shallow, slow moving river of grass that extends from Lake Okeechobee to Florida Bay. A unique ecosystem, the Everglades are home to alligators, dolphins, bald eagles, manatees and plenty more. As well as seeing the beautiful environment, there is plenty for visitors to do, including hiking, bicycling, canoeing, kayaking, boating, camping and fishing. Well worth a visit during your trip. WALT S DISNEY WORLD Located in Lake Buena Vista near Orlando this is the flagship of Disney's worldwide theme park empire and the most popular tourist attraction in Florida. It's also by far the world's largest and most-visited theme park resort. The centrepieces are the 4 theme parks: Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney World is a must visit for tourists and is renowned as a place of fun, magic and fantasy. Waer DiaNEpWorld 2 SOUTH BEACH South Beach used to be a rough area of Florida, but a renaissance in the 1980's saw an influx of fashion industry professionals moving in. These days, South Beach is the most popular and richest area of Miami Beach and one of the top tourist attractions in Florida. The South Beach area is renowned for its gorgeous sandy beach, hip clubs and wild nightlife, not to mention its famous art deco design. FLORIDA KEYS The Florida Køys are a 120 mile long chain of tropical islands curving around the base of the Florida peninsula, connected to the mainland by a series of bridges. The most spectacular bridge, the Seven Mile Bridge in the lower keys, has been frequently used as a location for films, including True Lies and Fast 2 Furious. US Highway 1 runs from Key Largo, Islamadora, Lower Keys and finally to Key West, the most famous of the Florida Keys.
