Road Accident Statistics dA Great Britain In 1942 there were 148,000 casualties(including fatalities) on UK roads, with casualties reaching a peak of 398,000 in 1965. Between 1965 and 1999 there was an overall gradual trend toward a declining number of casualties, albeit with some fluctuation. From 1999 there have been consecutive annual decreases in the number of casualties.In 2011 there were 204,000 casualties on British roads, a similar level to that observed in 1950.
