A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE VACUUM CLEANER Vacuum cleaners were invented out of necessity during the industrial revolution and have been around for over two centuries, let's recap how it all started... 1860 1858 1869 Daniel Hess patents his version of the carpet sweeper.
