Millions of accounts have been exposed by hackers digging for loopholes in the security systems of some of the biggest sites on the web. A A recent Harris Interactive poll, commissioned by Dashlane, found that a troubling majority of people engage in behaviors that put their personal online data at risk, in spite of fearing being hacked: 3 anrd 5 out of US adults online feel they are vulnerable to being hacked online, YET... ******** 0000 0123 4567 8910 69% of these reuse their password on more than one site Half of these do not change their password regularly 36% of these store their personal information, like their credit card information, on certain websites for convenience 72% of US adults online are concerned about their online data being used without their knowledge, 64% of these same people store their credit card information and other personal data on certain websites for convenience YET.. SOME OF US THINK WE'RE DOING A GOOD JOB: 68% of US adults online feel that they do take precautions to protect themselves online 69% of these reuse passwords BUT... HALF of these don't change their passwords regularly DON'T BE JUST ANOTHER BREACH VICTIM A Consumers become unwilling victims to data hackers and security breaches through no fault of their own, but while it's impossible to prevent a breach at a company of which you're a customer, there are certain things you can do to make your personal information safer. Remember password? YES NO Use strong and unique passwords for every site Never store passwords in your browser Use a password manager Avoid accessing important accounts on open wi-fi networks Verify that email links go to legitimate sites Never store credit cards, addresses or personal data on websites Change your passwords as soon as you hear of a security breach dashlane More privacy, more security, more control of your data.
