Online banking fraud has increased by 3 per cent to £40.9 million BE AWARE! Mobile phone fraud involves a variety of scams that either persuade you to buy phone-related products/services that turn out to be substandard or non- existent; or to make phone calls or texts to premium services by accident; or to unknowingly sign up to expensive subscription services. 150,000 cases were reported to Action Fraud, a third of these being purchase frauds. Don't fall victim to fraud with these tips Ensure you have the most up-to-date security software installed on your computer, including anti- virus Always be suspicious of unsolicited emails that are supposedly from a reputable organisation, such as your bank or the tax office and do not click on any links in the email. Your bank or the police will never phone, email or visit you to ask you for card PIN or to pick up your card. Never hand these details. Check your bank and card statements for unusual transactions. If you spot any let your bank or card company know as soon as possible.
