According to Gartner, the 2016 public cloud market is $734 billion. Of that, $203.9 billion is public cloud. Within public cloud, about $22.4 billion will be spent on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS...
) this year. About 2/3 of that spend is on compute resources, rather than storage/database/etc. Fully half of these compute resources don't need to run 24x7, as they're for non-production purposes such as development, staging, testing, QA, etc. In fact, if those servers are only needed for a 40-hour work week, then 76% of spend on them is wasted. Up to $5.6 billion spent on public cloud this year will be completely wasted. End the waste. http://www.parkmycloud.com
