This is particularly true of the economy Will the games cause a rise or fall in each of the following over the next 5 years in Rio de Janeiro? TE..59.5% 49,6%- .... ... 40.5% Unlike the London Olympics. the general feeling of the coming games is of quiet optimism, though - unsurprisingly - the 2014 World Cup is seen as having twice the possitive impact on Brazil than the games, with many citing benefits for the economy, infrastructure and Brazil's reputation abroad. The areas of most pessimism is the cost of hosting the games and the cities known crime problem, with most expecting rises in crimes such as corruption and muggings - possibly a result of the new money generated during during and after the games. Overall, most appear to see the games as an opportunity for Brazil to cement it's place amongst the big players of the developed world.
