Highest Score Bob Tway holds the record for worst score on the 17th hole during The Players Championship with a 12 in the third round of the 2005 tourney. Tway put four balls in the water, reached the green on his fifth attempt, then 3-putted. The bird pushed it around the green for a bit then attempted to take to the air with the ball in its beak, but dropped the ball shortly after takeoff. Lowery was allowed to replace that ball where it originally landed. Fun Fact An estimated 100,000 golf balls are retrieved from the lake surrounding the 17th green every year.
