Though the benefits of home vs. gym workouts are debated, bedroom exercise in the morning has certain advantages over gym exercise later in the day. A 2010 study published in the Journal of Physiology suggests that doing an hour to 90 minutes of cardio before breakfast helps your body deal with fat better than the same amount of exercise later. (Add an at-home Crossfit workout when you get out of bed to experience the full benefits of morning workouts.) A study in the journal Sleep found that sedentary women who began exercising in the morning—or stretching at any time of day—improved the quality of their sleep more than those who exercised in the evening.
While a bed workout is certainly no substitute for a rigorous fitness program, doing ten minutes of the following exercises before you get out of bed each morning can help regulate your body in pretty powerful ways.
