THE STATE OF SOCIAL RECRUITING MEASURING THE IMPACT IN 2012 The savviest recruiters have long known that the best crop of potential hires has gone social. Most have extended their strategy to include social recruiting. The Jobvite 2012 Social Recruiting Survey, now in its fifth year, takes a look at the evolution of social recruiting and its overall impact on the hiring industry. THE BRIEF EVOLUTION In 2012, 92 percent of recruiters reported that they have embraced social networking as part of their strategy. RATING THE RESULTS Since implementing social recruiting, the majority of respondents indicated an increase in the number of candidates as well as the quality of job seekers. Respondents also found that social recruiting increased employee referrals, and candidates found through these efforts took less overall time to hire. The survey found hires recruited via social media have increased by 10 percent since 2010. Percent of Respondents That Have Made Successful Hires Through Social Media Recruiting 73 percent of surveyed 58% 63% 73% respondents indicated they have successfully hired through social media. 2010 2011 2012 Network of Choice In 2012, respondents indicated which social network produced the most successful hires for them. in 89% 25% 15% Linkedin proved to be the winning social network for successful hires followed by Facebook and Twitter. The 2012 survey makes it clear that social recruiting has become a chief source of qualified candidates for companies and recruiters. Moreover, the majority of these job seekers also turn into successful hires at a much quicker rate. 71% While 71 percent of survey respondents considered themselves to possess only moderate-exceptional social recruiting skills, the impact of their efforts has been remarkable.
