Page Fan facebook Timeline Tutorial Cover Photo Facbeook gives very specific instructions on what is acceptable for a Timeline cover photo and what is not. Cover photos should be at least 399px wide. They may not contain advertisement of your product, promotions, discounts or links to your website / product. You may not be misleading with your photo nor give incentive for others to upload your photo as their cover. Add a QR Code Adding a QR code to your cover photo is a great way to interact with people in a non-invasive way. Page Tabs NEW Previously Facebook displayed your tabs in a nice little column on the left side of your page below your profile picture. Now tabs are displayed in a nice row underneath your cover photo. There are four slots that show your tabs. The first is your photo tab. As of now this tab is not editable or movable. The three tabs to the right are editable. Users can now edit their tabs in a much more dynamic way. You can change the image of your tab by uploading a photo or point to one somewhere on the internet. Only three tabs will show, but you can have numerous tabs. These display in the dropdown menu to the right of the tabs themselves. Opening this dropdown also lets you move around your tabs in a much easier way than before. You can get creative and add your own text that displays a little more information about your page. This section also allows for links, like to your website. You can add other useful contact information here as well like your e-mail, phone number or address. Custom Tabs One of the new features of the Facebook Timeline fan pages is the ability to customize your tabs. Before, they were displayed in a very ordinary looking column on the left side of your page. Now tabs are a lot more dynamic. Use the drop down menu located to the right of your tabs to start customizing where and how your tabs display. You can also set custom icons and url's for these tabs as well. Drop Down One important thing to note is that you cannot move your photos tab. As of now it is stationary and not editable. This leaves you with three custom tabs that you can display next to your photos tab. You can use your own or some of the ones that Facebook auto generates for you. The dimensions of the tab images cannot exceed 111x74px and 5mbs in size. You can use this tab to display a solid image or an image that is text based. Get creative! The drop down menu holds all | other tabs that you aren't displaying right up top. Use this | drop down to customize what tabs go where. From here you | can also customize your tabs image by hovering over the tab | image and clicking the pencil in the upper right portion. There is | also a blank box with a plus icon where you can add new tabs | easily to your page. NO MORE LANDINGPAGES Facebook landing pages are a thing of the past. So unless you have a DeLorean with a flux capacitor than you'll have to use some of the new features to drive traffic to your pages. You can still link directly to your tabs and you can still require people to LIKE your page before they can view the content. PINPOSTS Pinning posts is a new feature that allows you to dynamically interact with your fans. MILESTONES Pinned posts appear in the upper left of your page and have a flag icon on them. Milestones are another new feature of your fan page. They allow your company to set specific dates to things that happen. It's a lot like a press release but on your Facebook page. You can add the name, location, date, description and a photo. Once you submit your milestone it will appear in the appropriate date and time you specified. You can tell see the difference with milestones because of their unique flag icon at the top of the post. These milestones can be pinned to the top These pinned posts last for seven days and only admins have the ability to pin posts. Posts that fans cannot be pinned but posts made by the page itself can. of your page as well. Inside of this really nice drop down you will find five sections: • Notification • New Likes • Insights • Messages • Page Tips Your notifications are the same as they were before but in a much more organized fashion. You can click the see all text to see a whole list of all your previous notifications. Below that you will see new likes and insights. This is very important as it shows who's engaged with your site as well as the statistics of your page itself. Insights have always been useful but with the new admin panel they're a lot easier to view. The last two sections contain messages and page tips. If a user wants to contact you through your page they can send you a message just like if your page was an individual person. The page tips is useful for you to read up on if you're very new to fan pages.
