MILTARYBENEFITS FOR A FUTURE IN DESIGN A guide to help servicemen and women in the military to collect the necessary information and documents to apply to the New School of Architecture and Design. 01 DETERMINE YOUR TRAINING What level of training do you want? How much do you want to study? HALF Studying at half-time or less, you are not qualified for housing allowance, but are still eligible for tuition and B fee reimbursement. Bachelors HALF + Studying at greater than half-time, you qualify for a monthly housing allowance that is adjusted to match your rate of training (under the Post-9/11 GI Bill). M FULL Masters Studying full-time and taking at least one in-residence course qualifies you for a monthly housing allowance (under the Post-9/11 GI Bill). 02 STAYING ORGANIZED To complete your application you will need to be organized with the following information readily available to you. Dates and service status for each period of your military service. The number of months remaining for eligibility of one or more VA education programs, even if you have previously used these benefits. Provide information if you have participated in the $600 Buy-up program. Further documents needed: DD214 Certificate of release or discharge from active duty for the most recent period of active duty (if applicable). Transcripts for all post-high school education. Kicker contract DD2384 Notice of Basic Eligibility if applying to the MGIB-SR. Copies of orders if activated from the guard/reserves. Documents related to buy-up or buy-in contributions. 03 UNDERSTANDING BENEFITS Note: This is just a partial list of benefits that NSAD offers.
