Facts About Mummification
Mummification Preservation of a human or animal body through a special process of taping with essential nutrients. 3400BC - Ancient Egyptians started making mummies. Mummy making was a big production! It employed a lot of people: embalmers, cutters (surgeon), priests and scribes. The god of mummification was Anubis. He has the head of a jackal. 2600BC - Egyptians finally figured out that taking out the body's internal organs (except for the heart) would prevent the mummies from rotting. Embalmers used tree resin or sap to make the linen strips stick together and secure them in place. Royal Males were mummified with their arms around their chest.
