Biting Gold

Taking a Bite Out of Gold sO OLYMPIANS GET WHAT THEY DESERVE Decorated Olympians now nibble their medals as a treat for cameras. Turns out they still have reason to bite down: Olympic gold medals are made of 92.5% silver and 1.34% gold. Source: London 2012

Why do Olympic athletes bite gold medals? To test their quality. Aand apparently it's a valid argument. Less than 2% of the 2012 medals had real gold in them.
