Making Progress on the MDGS

MAKING PROGRESS ON THE MDGS Countries around the world are working hard to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. The Overseas Development Institute's Millennium Development Goals Report Card: Measuring Progress Across Countries recently ranked the countries that have made significant progress on key targets of the first, fourth and fifth goals. The rankings are in terms of absolute progress toward the targets, meaning countries that have improved by the largest margins (from the first measurement), regardless of initial conditions (and distance from the targets). 1 4 TAJIKISTAN CHINA MOROCCO NEPAL IRAQ BANGLADESH LAOS PAKISTAN NIGER BHUTAN GAMBIA MALI EGYPT VIETNAM BELIZE CAPE VERDE SENEGAL ETHIOPIA ETHIOPIA TIMOR LESTE GUINEA GUINEA BENIN CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC DEMOCRATIC INDONESIA ANGOLA REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO ANGOLA MALAWI MALDIVES SOME HIGHLIGHTS 1. COMBAT HIVIAIDS THE MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS (MDGS) ARE 7. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY EIGHT INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT GOALS THAT ALL 192 UNITED NATIONS MEMBER STATES AND AT 8. GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP LEAST 23 INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS HAVE EGYPT BHUTAN AGREED TO ACHIEVE BY THE YEAR 2015.
